Narrow Minded, Insolent, Inflexible…

Narrow Minded, Insolent, Inflexible, Prejudiced, Inconsiderate, Separatist, Divider, and Hater! Just who does He think He is?

Wow! Who could you be talking about? Well, I’m “just saying” how some could describe Jesus Christ! Just think about it. He said “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known My Father also; and now you know Him and have seen Him” (John 14:6-7).

What? Is He God’s body guard? Is He the secretary in charge who gets to decide whether or not you get an appointment with the C.E.O? Is there some kind of clique, here, that excludes everyone except the very elite?

Oh, and what’s this “if we’ve seen Him we’ve seen the Father” stuff? Oh my! Now He’s saying if we’re looking at Him we’re looking at God? That’s pulling the greatest rank and file pride we’ve ever heard!

What about other religions and gods? Only one way? You’ve got to be kidding. That’s not fair! What if we’ve never heard of His teachings? What if we grew up on an island all alone and never heard about Him?

I have several answers but I will simplify it to three:

  1. You have heard of Christ and His teachings.
  2. You did not grow up on an island all by yourself.
  3. Of all the great teachers and philosophers Jesus Christ is the only one who rose from the dead.

Deal with it! Whatever any of us may think about narrow, inconsiderate, and inflexible, is irrelevant when we measure the teachings of Christ against the works and actions of Christ. The proof of His teachings are evident in His works.

John 5:36
But I have a greater witness than John’s; for the works which the Father has given Me to finish—the very works that I do—bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me.

John 10:37
If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me.

John 10:25
Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.

Now we can understand His saying; If you had known me, you would have known My Father also; and now you know Him and have seen Him.” Many religions have excellent teachings, but only Christianity have both the teaching and works of Christ to prove them. And many religions quote the writings of a prophet, but Christianity is the only religion whose prophet rose from the dead as proof His teachings were true.

But how do we know Jesus rose from the dead? Some doubt it. And everyone has a choice to believe or deny history and truth because God has given man freedom of choice. I challenge you to read Deuteronomy 30:11-20 which has the sub-title “The Choice of Death or Life.” Here’s a clue: choose life!

Broad Way or Narrow Way?

When we “choose life” we choose the way and the truth. Remember, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6.) And remember what follows…, “No one comes to the Father except through me.” So when we choose life we choose the narrow way.

Is it really a narrow way? The “way” is the same for everyone. Read Matthew 7:13-14 and Luke 13:24 and you will find out that the broad way leads to destruction.

Romans 1:16-17 says “the Gospel of Christ is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, the just shall live by faith.”

Are you telling us the Jews have to accept Christ? Yes, I am simply quoting what God has stated in His Word, and it says “the Gospel of Christ is… for everyone.”

Acts 4:12 says “there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Romans 10:13 says “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

John 3:3 says “unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Mark 16:16 says “he who does not believe will be condemned.”

You might argue this is only my interpretation; however, all I have done so far is quote the Word of God. So I guess you could call me a “narrow minded, insolent, inflexible, prejudiced, inconsiderate, separatist, divider, and hater.” However, since I am speaking truth here, the real truth is I care about you and love you enough to tell you The Truth. Again, my advice from Matthew 7:13-14, Luke 13:24, and Deuteronomy 30:11-20; choose the narrow way; choose life.

The gospel of Christ is the power of God to salvation for you. He was born of the Virgin Mary; He grew up and healed the sick, the lame, and the blind. He performed miracle after miracle to meet the needs of people, He was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell to pay the full price for your sins and rose from the dead the third day. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God. He will the judge the quick and the dead and forgive all those who have repented giving them everlasting life.

Truth is love and sometimes it hurts. God corrects those He loves (Hebrews 12:6-9). If you have never prayed and asked Jesus to be the Lord of your life, now is the time to do it. He did not come into the world to condemn it, but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:17). He is not speaking to you to condemn you, but that you might be saved and inherit eternal life. For everyone who calls upon His name shall be saved (Romans 10:13).

Pray this prayer to Him right now…

Lord Jesus, I believe in my heart that you are the Son of God, you died on the cross for my sins, and you rose from the dead. I call on you now and ask you to become my Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. With my mouth I confess you as my Lord! Amen!

I call you blessed, healed, delivered, happy, whole, prosperous, on fire, and fulfilling the will of God for your life.
